I'm not a financial planner or an investment expert. I'm simply a curious woman, passionate about personal finance, who decided to share her journey, her thoughts, and her trial and errors.
I didn't come from a wealthy family. I was a single mom at a very young age. I had no handout, no magic shortcut, no big head start in life. For a long time, I truly believed money was for other people. For me, having $20,000 in savings would already have been something huge.
And yet.
How I Started
At a certain point in my life, I was working as a consultant while taking on a few small contracts on the side under my own name. Honestly, I had no grand plan. I simply wanted to make ends meet.
I built my own website with very little resources. I learned SEO, online marketing, social media. And gradually, clients started coming.
Then one day, I realized something that completely changed my perspective: the income from my small contracts was exceeding my main salary.
"I was living below my means. And that's how, gradually, I managed to save $100,000 since the pandemic."
What That Amount Changed
That amount completely transformed the way I see money. Not just from a financial standpoint, but mentally too. I understood that money wasn't something to fear or reserved for an elite.
So I started listening to podcasts, reading finance books, and joining an investment book club. TFSA, RRSP, ETFs, compound interest — words no one had ever explained to me in school.
What School Never Taught Me
Today, what fascinates me isn't just saving. It's understanding how to build real financial freedom. I deeply believe it's possible for ordinary people to become more financially solid, even without an extraordinary income.
I also believe strongly in the power of small amounts invested with discipline. Whether through self-employment, extra income, or a few hundred dollars a month in passive income — everything becomes powerful when you invest consistently over many years.
Don't Be Afraid to Start Over
I know what it's like to go to school with a child to care for, to work, to be exhausted. I know what it feels like to think you're behind everyone else.
But sometimes, accepting temporary hardship to build something more solid completely changes a life.
This blog is my financial lab. I'll be sharing my ideas, my reflections, my successes, my mistakes, and my financial adventures.
